Democratizing technology in South Bend!
The Technology Resource Center (TRC) in South Bend’s Ignition Park was built to democratize technology in our region. All will be welcome to the TRC to learn about technology and data, gain skills, and co-build an inclusive tech future for South Bend. A co-location between South Bend Code School, the City’s Civic Innovation & Analytics Divisions, and Bloomberg-funded Commuters Trust, the space will be home to technology and data training, cross-sector “Beta City” collaborations, and public programming about regional innovation.
Regular programming at the TRC
Software Training Courses with Business Analysts
Periodically, our Business Analysts provide informational sessions that are open to city staff and the public on various features of the software platforms we may utilize in different situations including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Forms, Monday.com, and Qualtrics.
Learn and Collaborate
Our Nonprofit Workshop series focuses on topics that range from introducing simple task management to help improve day to day operations, to strategic administration, to grant writing and more. Our Fall 2023 series is focused on Grant Writing.

TRC’s South Bend Specific Brainstorming Events!
During our first SolveSB event which took place July 2022, we called upon local high school students, college-age young adults, and mid-to-late career professionals alike to join in a weekend of fun, competition, and brainstorming. Teams from the community worked to intensively solve a problem statement under the topic of sustainability.
The TRC’s second SolveSB event took place in January 2023, this time with the topic of housing in the South Bend community! Groups worked to solve the problem statement: ‘How can we increase the development of housing in our urban neighborhoods through innovative or new approaches to financing?’
