DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. & FR. THEODORE HESBURGH MONUMENT UNVEILING: WEDNESDAY, JUNE 21
The City of South Bend announces the unveiling of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Father Theodore Hesburgh monument on Wednesday, June 21st, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Leighton Plaza (130 S Main Street) in downtown South Bend. Residents are also invited to gather at 10:00 a.m. at the Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation Center (1522 Linden Ave) for a march to the unveiling ceremony at Leighton Plaza. Transpo will provide a free shuttle from downtown to the King Center so those participating in the march can park their vehicles downtown, where they will ultimately return for the unveiling. The Transpo shuttles will depart from Washington Street next to the former Hall of Fame Gridiron at the following times: 9:30 a.m., 9:40 a.m., and 9:50 a.m.
Mayor Pete Buttigieg and University of Notre Dame President Father John Jenkins will be in attendance at the unveiling.
