Mayor Pete Buttigieg along with St. Joseph County officials and community leaders will open the new roundabout at the intersection of Olive St. and Sample St. on Friday, July 28 at 10 a.m. The roundabout and other intersection improvements were a joint project between the City of South Bend and St. Joseph County with the project coordinated through the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT).
The two-year construction project began in April 2016 and was funded by 80 percent federal funds and 20 percent split between the City and County. In addition to the roundabout, the project included the replacement of the overpass deck and new pavement, sidewalks, streetlights, and trees.
