Representatives from the City of South Bend, Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians, Southeast Organized Area Residents neighborhood association, Bowman Creek Educational Ecosystem, and the University of Notre Dame College of Engineering will mark the completion of the Ravina Park project on Thursday, June 6 at 1:00 p.m. The ribbon cutting will take place in Ravina Park, which is in the Southeast neighborhood and bordered by Indiana Avenue, Lebanon Street, Broadway Street and Dale Avenue.
This project included the bank stabilization of Bowman Creek and pedestrian improvements throughout the park. The streambank stabilization portion removed the broken-down bridge, stabilized the banks of Bowman Creek and improved the wildlife habitat along the creek. The pedestrian improvements portion included an ADA accessible concrete path and creek overlook within the park, and the completion of the sidewalk on the north and east perimeter of the park.
The total cost of the project was $287,183. This project was funded in part by a $100,000 donation from the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians. The sidewalk improvements were made possible by an allocation from Third District Council Member Sharon McBride.
