FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CITY STARTING DOWNTOWN WALK AND RIDE PROGRAM
Mayor Pete Buttigieg announced Tuesday that the City will hold a weekly walk and bike ride around downtown South Bend to encourage exercise and educate residents on the uses of Smart Streets. The program will run from 12:15 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. on Thursdays between July 20 and August 31. The group will alternate between walks and bike rides each week, starting with a walk on July 20. Both routes will begin and end under the Century Center canopy. Each event will be weather-dependent.
Mayor Buttigieg will kick off the initiative at 12:15 p.m. this Thursday, July 20, with some brief remarks before joining the walkers. Press is invited.
The program is a collaboration between the City of South Bend, the St. Joseph County Health Department, and MACOG. Representatives from the organizations will lead each group.
