Mayor Pete Buttigieg has announced Tracy Skibins as Director of Code Enforcement for the City of South Bend. Skibins was named Interim Director on August 31.
“Tracy Skibins has already exhibited strong leadership during her tenure with Code Enforcement,” said Buttigieg. “I look forward to working with Tracy in her new role as we enhance service delivery and ensure that Code empowers all neighborhood residents.”
Skibins previously served as Deputy Director of Code Enforcement, as a Captain in the Notre Dame Security Police Department, and as a Corporal and Investigator with the South Bend Police Department. She also served in the United States Army Reserve. Skibins graduated from Indiana University South Bend.
As Deputy Director, Skibins worked closely with City leadership, department staff, and residents to advance the shared goal of safe, healthy neighborhoods. She focused particularly on connecting residents in need of home repair resources with philanthropic and charitable organizations in South Bend.
Around South Bend, Skibins brings comfort to grieving families through a local charity, and volunteers with family and friends at the Center for the Homeless during weather amnesty. Skibins also serves on a local lacrosse board and school safety committee.
“I’m proud to be part of such a talented and dedicated team” said Skibins. “I’m honored by the opportunity to serve and partner with the citizens of South Bend in my new role as Director of Code Enforcement, and look forward to a continued partnership in preserving public health, safety, and quality of life.”
