Cross Creek Neighborhood feels as if it is in the country. Brick Road, leading to the neighborhood, has wooded acreage, a private vineyard and a peaceful feel. Yet Cross Creek also offers the convenience of city living.
As resident Chris Richert says “We wanted something move-in ready; didn’t have to replace carpet – didn’t have to replace shutters, windows, anything like that. It was our first home and we wanted our parents to actually be impressed with our first home. It is a great neighborhood; if you drive down the street and wave to somebody they will wave right back.”
Cross Creek is not your usual new development. The curving streets and wooded lots make it more charming. Some of the homes have a hilltop setting which adds to that charm. The last homes were built in this subdivision in 2003, so it still feels crisp and new. The well-kept homes range from modest sized ranches with Palladian windows and Cape Cods with shuttered dormers, to large two-story homes with welcoming porches.
Just off Portage, close to the Indiana Toll Road and the U.S. 31 By-Pass the location is just great for commuting – whether to South Bend, another community in the region or even Chicago. It boasts two minutes to shopping and a quick drive to the University of Notre Dame or downtown nightlife.
The large neighborhood shopping area features a 212,000 square foot, 24 hour Meijer, a Walmart Supercenter and all the usual suspects for fast food. The new Applebees is a great draw as is a local favorite Hacienda Mexican Restaurants. You can do your banking, go to the drugstore, get your nails done and drop off your dry cleaning all in one trip.
The upper end of homes sold in the neighborhood is $175,000. However, the average sale price is around $140,000.
