  Rebuilding Together

Rebuilding Together (known as Christmas in April until 2002) is a nonprofit, community-based partnership of volunteers from local government, businesses, and other nonprofits that rehabilitate the homes of low-income homeowners and improve neighborhoods.

On two April Saturdays each year, approximately 1,000 skilled and unskilled volunteers join together to make repairs to about 25 homes in a selected St. Joseph County neighborhood.  All repairs are completed at no cost to the homeowner.

Since the program's inception, more than 36,000 volunteers have donated their time and skills, worth about $10 million in market value, to rehabilitate 797 homes in South Bend.

The City of South Bend is proud to work with Rebuilding Together to repair and spruce up the homes of low-income, disabled, and elderly residents.

Visit Rebuilding Together's website for further information, including how to apply for assistance, how to volunteer, and how to support its work.
