The Mayor's After School Program (ASP) Initiative is to provide a safe and enriching after school environment. The program assists with funding quality after school programming for the youth of our community. Such programming will engage not only the youth, but encourage adult interaction with the youth.
Awards are distributed on a competitive basis to successful applications from the following: SBCSC schools; private and parochial schools; and non-profit organizations including religious organizations within the city limits of South Bend. This ASP began in the 1999-2000 school year, with the program providing to date $868,000 in funds. Funds awarded may be used for administrative and operating costs, supplies, and snacks. Capital expenditures to facilities and for the purchase of computers, etc. are not permitted. The maximum grant allocation is $10,000.
If you would like your name added to the mailing list to receive your application or if you have any questions, please contact the Parks and Recreation Department, Judy Smith, at 574.235.9688.
