The Solid Waste Management District of St. Joseph County has mandated the curbside recycling program for all County residents, including those within the City of South Bend.  The charges are as follows:

• City Residents: $1.97 per month*
• County Senior Residents: $2.25 per month
• All other County Residents: $2.70 per month
  

*There is no additional discount for senior residents in the City, but a discount for seniors is provided as part of the basic trash collection.

Recycling may not be on the same day as trash service.  The recycling collection day is set by Superior Waste, who has contracted with the County to provide this service.  The City is only billing for the service, which is the reason our rates are lower than even the senior rate in the County.
