Information & FAQ - Erosion & Sediment Control Program

What is needed to obtain a permit:

• A bond on the City of South Bend bond form
•  A Contractor Bond (concrete) is a $1,000.00 bond and is used for any work done in the right of way such as curbs or sidewalks, and driveway approaches
• An Excavation Bond is a $5,000.00 bond and is used for any excavation done in the City right-of-way
• The above-stated bond MUST be in the name of the contractor performing work.  Please call for more information if your contractor has asked you to get the permit for them
• The address where you will be performing work
• The length of time you will be performing work (6 months for sidewalk work or 30 days for excavation)

How much will your permit cost?

• Concrete permits are $10.00
• Excavation permits are $25.00
• Sewer tap permits are $25.00
