Program Description:

Communications and Special Projects is responsible for external communications including media relations, public relations, and promotions.  We coordinate news conferences and all other contact with the media.  In addition, Communications & Special Projects coordinates and assists with the development of educational and promotional communications for the City, and reinforcing South Bend's position as the dominant metropolitan center for the region.

Communications & Special Projects is also responsible for a multiplicity of special projects that occur in the community including the Fire Hydrant Painting Project, special conferences and conventions, Art in Public Places, and opportunities to promote City programs and services.  The staff provides writing and editing for all departments and specifically communicates the mission and goals of the Mayor's Office through media releases, promotional materials, and special events.
