Bridging the gap between academic research and commercial production is Technology Transfer. In South Bend, institutions like the University of Notre Dame and Indiana University School of Medicine are conducting research that will form the foundation for the technologies of the future. That research includes the work being done by the Midwest Institute for Nanoelectronics Discovery.
To nurture that discovery, and aid the transition from research to private enterprise, South Bend has created the Indiana's first dual-site, state-certified technology park. Located next to Notre Dame, Innovation Park serves as an incubator for fledgling companies that emerge from this research. As the companies begin to grow, they have the option to move to Ignition Park, a mixed-use complex that will support their research and development needs.
